Linda G. Burwell formed National Investigation Counsel, PLLC, a national niche law firm to personally partner with law firms and in-house counsel, primarily in high-level independent workplace investigations.

The type of services Ms. Burwell provides to her clients is best accomplished outside the traditional law firm setting and is a perfect blend of her talents. There is a growing need for these specialized services, and being an independent professional, who no longer litigates and who has no ties to any law firm, is a valuable resource to her clients, many of whom are former competitors and/or adversaries. 

National Investigation Counsel has clients across a broad spectrum of industries including employment lawyers whose client needs an independent workplace investigation.

Linda Burwell is a Sustaining and active member of The Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI). She is a Faculty Member for the Association of Workplace Investigators Training Institutes and is a Certificate Holder (AWI-CH).

Ms. Burwell is a nationally recognized employment law expert with over 30 years’ experience representing companies. She served as panel counsel to numerous insurance companies writing Employment Practices Liability Insurance since the inception of EPLI. She has been recognized as an expert on the EEOC by the EEOC and was invited by the EEOC to testify before the Commission to provide input on the Agency’s Quality Control Plan for investigations and conciliations. 

Ms. Burwell’s extensive experience as panel counsel for insurers, coupled with her practical business sense, her familiarity with the EEOC and other agencies, her keen ability to quickly assess employment environments and evaluate employee complaints, and her reputation in the employment law community, renders her uniquely qualified to work with other counsel in this very specialized practice.

Prior to forming National Investigation Counsel, she co-owned a certified women owned employment and labor defense firm. She is a member of the Michigan bar. Ms. Burwell is an ABA Foundation Fellow and has received numerous awards and honors including being recognized in the Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, one of Michigan’s Super Lawyers, Leaders in the Law by Michigan Lawyers Weekly, Top 50 Female Lawyers in Michigan, Top Lawyers by DBusiness Magazine, and she received a lifetime achievement award for Women in Leadership, from the Michigan Business & Professional Association.
